David Cata is one very passionate artist. He has created a series named ‘a Flor De Piel’.
In this series, he embroiders portraits of people who have influenced or marked his life being family, friends, teachers, lovers and partners and sews them into the palm of his hand.
People may find this quite strange however, personally I would call this ‘real life art’. He has
interwoven these important people into himself and I feel that this is a strong representation of building history. He is working with his flesh to show a symbol of many things, for instance pain, love, separation and memorial. When relating his style of work to my own, I would like to think that I have the same mind set, in the sense that I try to express my personal ideas and thinking. I tend to relate to a subject which is close to me because I can creatively address the passion I have within my art work.
